BUDDHA TIME
stainless steel, Buddha statue, plastic clock

What moves at a pendulum? It is the mind that moves, say the Buddhist. A quiet pendulum or a standing clock is a symbol of a quiet spirit. The top pendulum is a simple one, the middle one carries in addition the capacity of rotation; the lowest one is a triple-pendulum, a simple mechanic tool, but there is no way to calculate the space-time development. In this way it becomes a symbol for a uncontrollable free spirit.

THE TIME & THE HOUR
stainless steel

The time arrived. The hours ended, past and future does not exist any more. What remains is the present. This moment exactly, in this space exactly. Welcome at the present!

SAND GLASS
stainless steel, type writer

A sand glass is a very old way to measure time . Here it is combined with a tool that tries to fix contents in time: a typewriter. But seen from a larger time frame, like the coming and going of mountains, a typed page is changing as fast as the sand in the glass is running. Permanence exists only in change.

ETERNAL CLOCK
Stainless steel, 2002

The hand of this eternal clock shows always the right time to do things: NOW!
The word "now" is written in 53 different languages of the world. The hand itself carries a lot of scientific symbols. On top: 9192631770 means the number of periods of the atom 133Cs, to define 1 second. Then follows 365.256: the exact length of the year in days. The centre circle represents the Sun. Every 11,3 years the orientation of the magnetic poles change. The nutation cycle of the earth is 25765 years. On the lower part one finds the number 299793: with a factor of one thousand, in meter per second, it is the so called "speed of light". Above and below the Sun symbol are marks that define in the right proportion the distance of Mercury, Venus and Earth to the Sun. Other 5 marks define the Megalithic Yard: 1MY=82.35cm..

TIME PARADE
concrete
work in progress

Turtles are a symbol for long life. Snails are a symbol for "having lots of time". Here they are in a parade that follows exactly the sequence of Fibonacci: (0), 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 44, ...   starting with one mother bird (1), followed by the baby bird (1), then the parade of  2 snails, 3 turtles, 5 snails, 8 turtles, 13 snails, 21 turtles, and so on.
